Cutting pipes with new Ridgid PC116 is rapid and fruitful work
In March 2021, Ridgid introduced a new product, the high performance electric pipe cutting machine RIDGID PC116.
The Universal Electric Pipe Cutter RIDGID PC116 is provided for cutting metal and plastic pipes with nominal size ranged from 12 to 100 mm (½ to 4 inches). It weighs only 14 kg. Owing to lightness and portability, no transportation problems exist, therefore pipe cutting is possible both in workshop and on temporary work sites.
The RIDGID PC116 pipe cutter can be applied with spark-free cold cutting for coated and uncoated carbon steel, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, plastic or multilayer pipes.
To launch cutting, there is no need for long preparations. The pipe quick fixing mechanism shortens the preparation time, and the size adjustment switch makes it easy to adjust the desired pipe diameter, i.e. from 50 to 100 mm or less than 50 mm. Special pipe measuring scale is mounted on the machine. Roller speed is controlled by the two-speed switch. The low speed reduces the risk of vibration and moving the pipe during cutting, and recommended for pipes up to 50 mm in diameter and longer than 2 meters. The high speed allows to rapidly cut pipes with length up to 2 meters with diameter from 50 mm.
The pneumatic foot switch ensures additional control of the engine on and off.
Optional countersink for burrs removal is applicable for the inside of pipes up to 50 mm (2 inches).
In addition to the countersink, a pipe support may be acquired among the accessories.
Replacing the cutting roller
The cutting roller is made of high-strength alloy. The pipe cutter comes standard with 2 cutting rollers, equipped with bearing for metal and plastic pipes. They can also be bought separately:
- Cutting roller E850 without bearing for metal pipes (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum), article 66938.
- Cutting roller E850 without bearing for plastic and copper pipes, article 66943.
Replacing the cutting roller is necessary when cutting pipes made of various materials or to replace it with a new one when the cutting edge is dull or chipped. This does not require an additional tool, it is enough to remove the connecting pin and replace the roller with a new one.
To summarize, the RIDGID PC116 electric machine may be recommended for rapid and fruitful daily cutting of pipes made of various materials and simultaneously obtaining a clean and smooth cut with a wall thickness of up to 3 mm for metal pipes and up to 6 mm for plastic pipes.
